Wireful Wireless
At the end of last semester, I talked to a Dean and found out, much to my surprise, that I was able to graduate into adulthood this semester. "Adulthood" meaning real house keys and no ridiculously early curfews. I was moving into the state apartments!!! This, of course, also meant forfeiting my much-loved luxuries: Internet and furniture. I didn't even have a bed! That was quickly solved, though, by renting. Can you believe it only costs less than $10 to rent a couch? A month? Crazy, I know! But I digress... that solved one problem. But what about Internet. My housemate and I quickly employed the services of Comcast and got cable and Internet hooked up in our house. We didn't realize, however, that this did not come with wireless access. We had to deal with that ourselves. So, for the past month now, we've been picking our way gingerly through our living room. It reminds me of walking through a field riddled with bombs... one wrong step and our whole world will come crashing down. We couldn't find a way to organize all the cords because of how the outlets were located. We finally decided today to purchase a wireless router. After 3 hours of frustratingly slow work trying to get it connected, we finally managed to get connected to ourselves! Yay! We still have to use cords and wires and all that jazz, so our home is still riddled with wire-bombs. We tried. Our wireless router has proved worthless... either that or we're just too simple minded to set it up ourselves.
