Tornado Warning
Beep. Beep. Beep. (Imagine this, but louder and more shrill). This is the sound of our ever-trusty tornado warning alarm. It went off at around 4 PM today.. and again at around 7:45. Both of these times, I was sitting in class, nodding off. I literally jumped out of my seat everytime the alarm went off. During the 7:45 tornado warning, my class and I were in Daniells Hall and we made our way slowly down to the basement. We made our way down, not even bothering to help the guy in crutches who limped his way down even slower. We sat in the hallway of the basement, toe to toe. If someone had walked down the hallway, they wouldn't need the light overhead--the light from all the texting lit up the otherwise dark hallway. Even our teacher was playing on her cellphone. The whole time the alarm was going off, a few of my classmates thought it funny to mimic her and moan and groan about how loud it was. I don't think they realized that when the alarm is loud and you're loud it's just as bad. As soon as the alarm stopped, we all started questioning whether or not we had been forgotten in the basement. Soon, though, the male voice came on, assuring us of our safety. We immediately packed our bags and made our way back to our classroom--again bypassing the guy with the crutches.
