Ideas

It is now 2 AM and I am sitting here at the Thatcher South front desk, anxiously awaiting 4 when I can seek the comfort of my bed. Interestingly enough, it is within these couples hours that I get my best ideas. Maybe it's the fact that there is no one here but me and I have no choice but to sit and think. I've been reading cynicmag.com and the articles are very interesting. There is entitled "September 12" and I'm assuming it's a fictional piece that is based off of an actual event, 9/11. The author uses first-person point of view to deliver the story of a man and his family who fall into the despair the whole nation is facing after the terrorist attacks. The narrator tells how the nation completely falls to piece, almost reminiscent of "I Am legend", the movie with Will Smith. The power dies. Everyone is panicking and losing all sense of hope. The narrator's neighbr, an old lady, is shot and killed when looters come to her house and break her door down. They manage to escape, ironically, in this old lady's car. They go to his wife's mother's farm, out in the country, where it is deemed safer. It's what I think the author believed could've happened--almost like a parallel universe. I think that's an interesting idea: taking something that actually happened and then take a left turn with it and go in a completely different direction.
